Youngsters' views on life in the rural Vale
The views of a group of young people in Cowbridge and the rural
Vale have been the focus of a special BBC Wales photo journalism
project.
The five youngsters - Peter Williams, David Lewis, Lewis
Shire, Melissa Massey and Jade Price - taking part in the
website project were part of a 17-strong group who completed an
Introduction to Youth Work Course at the Vale Council's Cowbridge
Youth Centre.
The "In the Frame" project invited young people to outline what
they would do to change issues which affect them in their area if
they were a Welsh Assembly Government Minister.
Films were premiered at the youth centre where the panel of
young people took part in a wide-ranging question and answer
session based on their films. The session was chaired by Andy
Roberts from the BBC.
Accompanied by Youth Development Officer (Rural Vale) Tina
Simmons, who was youth work course tutor, the group will also
appear in a programme that was filmed by the BBC in the Senedd on
Sunday, April 29, and will be broadcast around the Assembly
elections. It is hosted by Huw Edwards.
Tina commented: "This is a good example of youth participation
in action, and the young people are to be congratulated on the
production of their films and the impact they have had on the local
community."
