Action at Court Road civic amenity site
In response to local residents' concerns about the Vale of
Glamorgan Council's civic amenity site on Court Road, Barry, the
council has implemented new measures to clean the site on a daily
basis every morning, and inspect the site more regularly, with
immediate effect.
Colin Smith, cleansing works manager, said: "It is disappointing
that additional cleaning has had to be arranged at the site due in
the main part to the inappropriate use of the facility. Any
materials left alongside the containers, regardless of whether they
are full or not, is classed as fly tipping and our enforcement
officers will be monitoring the site in future and taking action if
necessary.
"Whilst all the containers are emptied regularly, they will
occasionally become full. In such cases, residents are reminded to
either take their materials to one of our other 'bring sites'
nearby, our recycling centre at Hayes Road in Sully, or
alternatively to use our fortnightly kerbside collection
service."
