Applications invited for Vale's 2008 sports academy
The Vale of Glamorgan Council sports development team is again
inviting young international performers residing within its area to
apply for assistance with training.
The 2008 sports academy scheme will entitle a maximum of 50
successful applicants, who must not be receiving financial support
for training from any other source, free use of facilities at seven
council-owned leisure complexes.
The training facilities, which include fitness studios (for
those over 16), swimming pools and sports halls, are available at
the Barry, Cowbridge, Holm View (Barry), Llantwit Major and Penarth
centres. Also available are the Colcot Sports Centre and Jenner
Park Athletics Stadium.
Vale sports, arts and play development manager Karen Davies
said: “The application process includes details of the past year's
achievements and the individual's planned programme for the year
ahead. We will want to hear about other details including squad
memberships, competitions and trials.”
