"Ring and request" garden waste collection service during winter months

Ring and request garden waste collection service during winter months

The Vale of Glamorgan Council is reminding residents that fortnightly kerbside collections of garden waste stop from the end of October.

The service will operate on a ‘ring and request’ basis from 5 November to 28 March. Please call 029 2067 3000 if you need a collection during this time.

Head of Visible Services Miles Punter explained. “As there is a greatly reduced demand for the service during the winter months, it is not cost effective over this period to provide it via a scheduled collection round. We, therefore, ask residents to contact us to arrange a collection. In addition to helping save time and money, this will also reduce our impact on the local environment.”

If residents would like to use the service during this time, biodegradable bags can be bought from the council offices in Cowbridge, Llantiwt Major, Barry (Civic and The Docks), The Alps, Wenvoe, and Penarth priced three for £1.

Garden waste can also be composted at home. Discounted compost bins are available to all Vale residents priced from £10. Please call 01884 841 515 for details.
