Hafod join Vale Council's successful HOMES4U scheme

Hafod has become the third housing association to join the Vale of Glamorgan Council's successful HOMES4U scheme.

With the launch of HOMES4U in June 2003, the Vale became the first local authority in Wales to introduce choice based lettings by advertising all its empty homes in local newspapers.

The move by Hafod means that all their vacant properties, and those of the Newydd and Wales and West housing associations, are now being advertised alongside vacant council homes every fortnight. People who register for housing will only have to complete one application form to be considered and will be able to bid for any homes advertised under the HOMES4U banner.

Cabinet member for housing and community safety Cllr Margaret Wilkinson said: "Extending HOMES4U to include Hafod is part of a partnership approach by the council in linking up with organisations who are operating the same allocations policy and lettings process across the Vale. This should enable us to provide a much better service to our customers."
