Vale of Glamorgan Mayor hosts civic service
This year's Vale of Glamorgan Mayor, Cllr A Clive Williams, was
joined by political colleagues, civic heads, family and friends for
his civic service at All Saints' Church, Penarth.
The service was conducted by the Rev Peter Cox, who gave an
address, and Cllr Williams was accompanied by the Mayoress, his
wife, Gwyneth. The Rev Cox was assisted by the Rev Elaine
Evans.
The service included lessons read by Vale Chief Executive John
Maitland Evans and Cllr Williams' daughter, Zara, and performances
by the church choir, Sunday school choir and the Petrus Recorder
Group.
The service was followed by a reception at Dyffryn Gardens, and
Cllr Williams said: "I was delighted that so many people were able
to join me at the service. It gave us the opportunity to think
about our responsibilities to each other as public servants and as
individuals.
"On a personal note, Civic Sunday was also a wonderful
opportunity for me as mayor to thank colleagues for their
support."
