Vale Council's highway maintenance division short-listed for national award

The Vale of Glamorgan Council's highway maintenance division has been short-listed for national recognition at the Association of Public Service Excellence Awards.

The Vale Council has been selected as a top finalist in the category for Best Service Team: Highways, Winter Maintenance and Street Lighting at the prestigious awards being held in Gateshead on 19 September.

This year, the awards have attracted over 390 submissions from more than 200 organisations from across England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales. Only a maximum of seven finalists have been short-listed in each category.

The Vale Council's Cabinet Member for Visible Services Cllr Rob Curtis said: “I'd like to congratulate all members of the highway maintenance division for reaching the finals of this year’s awards against such impressive competition.”

Keith Jones, Operational Manager - Highway Maintenance, said: “I am absolutely delighted for the highway service to be recognised as one of the top performers across the four home countries. It is due to the hard work and dedication of all staff in the division. I am proud of the service that we provide to residents and travellers in the Vale of Glamorgan.”
