New arrivals at Cosmeston Medieval Village
The reconstructed 14th Century village of Cosmeston is another
step closer to presenting an authentic view of life in medieval
Wales.
Latest
arrivals are sisters Bronwen and Gwenllian-Tamworth/Wild Boar cross
pigs and a variety that would have been common in the Middle
Ages.
Caradog the archer (alias Alan Gibbon, assistant manager), who
welcomed Cosmeston's latest additions, said that the pigs, with
their long bodies and snouts, would have been familiar to peasants
living at the village more than 600 years ago.
The new additions at the Vale of Glamorgan Council-run tourist
attraction near Penarth are all part of an ongoing project to
ensure the historical accuracy of the medieval village's livestock.
The village is reconstructed on the original foundations of a
medieval community.
Bronwen and Gwenllian can look forward to plenty of excitement
starting this coming weekend when Cosmeston hosts a medieval battle
event on Sunday and Monday, 4 and 5 May. For more information, call
