Rondel House Day Centre is blooming lovely
A Barry day centre has
enjoyed a splendid garden makeover thanks to a team effort.
The work at Rondel House in Maesycwm Street was undertaken by
the Vale of Glamorgan Council enforcement and parks teams and
Visible Crew which brings together representatives from the Youth
Offending Service, probation service, police, fire service and the
enforcement team who work in partnership with local communities to
improve the local environment.
Council senior enforcement officer and Vale woman of the year
Denny White said: “The parks department were delighted to donate a
few surplus plants and my team was happy to assist with the
planting.”
Rondel House manager Carol Watts said: “Our gardens were in need
of upkeep and the team kindly stepped in. The bedding plants and
small vegetable patch will make a difference to our users.”
Cabinet member for
building and visible services Cllr Geoff Cox said: “I’m delighted
that the team stepped forward to brighten up the front and rear
gardens at the local centre. Rondel House users already appreciate
looking at the results. I’m sure their home grown tomatoes will be
a treat too. A big thank you to all involved with the project.”
Rondel House assists older people in maintaining their
independence by providing high quality caring services. The day
centre offers personal and practical care for frail, elderly
people, as well as respite, advice and support for carers.
Rondel House is open five days per week from 9am to 4.30pm;
