End of term celebration for adult education students

Students who have attended various Vale of Glamorgan Council adult education classes at the Barry Island Community Centre celebrated the end of their term with a party and presentation.

Students from the daytime painting and drawing and computer classes prepared a buffet lunch and got together to relax and reflect on their efforts and achievements over the past year.

Certificates were also awarded to students who have successfully completed computer courses in word, Internet and email.

Adult learners celebrateA competition was held in class in which the students used their new skills to produce posters advertising the new adult education courses that will start in the Vale of Glamorgan from September. Adult education officer Debbie Lewis and art tutor Gary Colston chose the winning poster and presented student Lilian with a box of chocolates.

The new Vale of Glamorgan Council Lifelong Learning Prospectus will be available soon from the county's main community centres and libraries. The prospectus will contain full details about all the courses that will start from September and students are advised to enrol early on courses to avoid disappointment.

Classes at the Barry Island Community Centre that will start from September include both computers for beginners and improvers' courses, as well as painting and drawing, while in the evenings students will be able to attend belly dancing on Mondays, tai chi on Tuesdays, with a new beginners tai chi class starting on Thursdays.

For further details about courses that will start from September across the Vale of Glamorgan, please look out for the prospectus or call the Palmerston Community Learning Centre on 01446 733762 or the Barry Centre on 01446 738054.
