Do you need some extra help to get back to work?
Due to some central government funding, people living in
Castleland, Court or Gibbonsdown in Barry and currently not working
are now able to access additional support to help with getting into
work.
The Vale of Glamorgan Council’s Lifelong Learning Employment
Training Services (LLETS), together with partners Dash Training and
BTCV Enterprises, are working to offer a wide range of
opportunities to meet the needs of local residents.
To show what is on offer, they are holding an open morning on
Thursday, 24 July, at The Hub, YMCA, Court Road, Barry, from 9.30
am until 12 noon. Light refreshments will be available.
LLETS manager Pippa Jones said: "You will be able to talk to
experienced staff, see the variety of placements we have and decide
which of the opportunities will be best suited to you. Some taster
sessions will be available."
Examples of opportunities available include:
• work placements in carpentry, bike maintenance, painting and
decorating, retail and clerical, etc;
• short training courses to help you get that job, including
construction type (eg, site safety, CSCS), food hygiene and first
aid, and
• continuing job search support including CVs, application
forms, confidence building and access to resources.
Pippa added: "So why not come along and see how we can help you
get back to work? You’ve nothing to lose and lots to gain."
