KIDSOUT fun day a huge success at Barry Island
Seven hundred and
fifty children enjoyed a fun-packed day on the beach as Barry
Island once again hosted the Rotary Club's annual KIDSOUT day,
supported by the Vale of Glamorgan Council.
The sun shone for the children and 300 teachers and helpers who
attended the event from schools in Newport, Pontypool, Blackwood,
Pontlanfraith, Abercarn and Newbridge.
Rotary District
1150 (zones five and six) have been organising the visits to
Whitmore Bay for past few years, and this year's gathering formed
the largest KIDSOUT group event in the UK.
Organiser Trevor Heywood said: "It is always a pleasure to come
to Barry Island and we really appreciate the wonderful welcome and
support from the staff in the leisure and tourism department at the
Vale of Glamorgan Council and from the traders on Barry Island. The
feedback we’ve have had is that everyone had a fantastic time."
Vale Council Cabinet Member for Leisure and Tourism Cllr Anthony
Ernest said: "We are pleased to support this event and acknowledge
all of the hard work put in by the Rotary Club members. We look
forward to welcoming them back next summer."
