Arrests made on Atlantic Trading Estate
Intruders have been arrested at an arson hit site on the
Atlantic Trading Estate in Barry. Two males were arrested on
Friday, June 27.
The pair had accessed a site owned by the Vale of Glamorgan
Council. Recently the subject of an arson attack, the site had been
cordoned off awaiting demolition and clearly signed as dangerous
and out of bounds to unauthorised persons.
Covert surveillance of the site was underway, following recent
thefts and incidents of fly tipping. The two men were caught
dismantling metal girders, ready to remove them from the site, and
were arrested by police.
A council spokesperson said, "The two individuals were
trespassing on land that had been clearly marked as unsafe to
access. Theft is one thing, but endangering life and limb is
another. Surveillance on Atlantic Trading Estate has been stepped
up recently and the council would like to make it clear that action
will be taken against trespassers and any other law breakers at the
site."
