So much summer fun at Barry Island
Fun for all the family is promised through a wide range of free
events at Barry Island this summer.
Organised by the Vale of Glamorgan Council through its leisure
and tourism division, the programme opens on Saturday, 5 July, and
runs until 23 August.
Opening the fun on the prom on 5 July, with
performances at 12.30, 2 and 3pm is No Fit State Circus
(right) and their 'Merpeople' stilt walkers, and, the
following day (6 July at 1 and 3pm), Captain Chainsaw will wow
audiences with his breathtaking juggling and carving show.
Musical attractions include the Vale of Glamorgan, Newport
Borough and Lewis Merthy brass bands who will be beside the sea
with performances at 1 and 3pm on Sundays (20 July, 27 July and 10
August) respectively.
Other attractions are:
• Saturday (12 July, 12.30, 2 and 3pm) - Physical Jerks,
one of the UK's top break dance crews.
• Saturday (19 July, 12.30, 2 and 3pm) - Hodman and Sally,
funny walkabout puppet act.
• Saturday, 26 July (12.30, 2 and 3pm) - Jason Maverick
with a high energy street show featuring mime, robotics and
juggling.
• Saturday, 2 August (12.30, 2 and 3pm) - Pick 'n' Mix
Circus (balloon modelling) and Dandydoodles (face painting).
• Monday, 4 August, to Friday, 8 August (1 to 3pm daily) -
beach activities with the Play Rangers.
• Saturday, 9 August (12.30, 2 and 3pm) - No Fit State
Circus with a wide range of street entertainment.
• Saturday, 16 August (12 noon and 2.30pm) - Mr P's New
Orleans Marching Band.
• Saturday, 23 August (1 and 3pm) - Pick 'n' Mix Circus and
Georgina the Giraffe, the world's only mind reading giraffe!
