The Alarm and The Automatic to play at the Barry Waterfront Tall Ship festival.

 

One of the most popular Welsh rock bands, The Alarm, will headline at the free live music stage at Barry Waterfront on Saturday 5 September along with The Automatic.

The Alarm have been in the rock 'n' roll business for over 30 years and can lay claim to 15 top 50 UK singles. Joining them will be local heroes The Automatic. Originally from Cowbridge, The Automatic hit the big time with huge single Monster and they went on to have further chart success with singles Raoul and Steve McQueen.

 

The festival stage will host a two-day programme of free live music starting at 1pm on Saturday 5 with local bands Shooting the Moon confirmed for the 4.00pm slot and The Relics at 5pm, before The Automatic take to the stage at 6.30pm and The Alarm at 8pm. 

 

The festival will close on Sunday 6 with motown and soul sensations Big Mac’s Wholly Soul Band at 5pm.

 

The festival will also includes visits from The Tall Ship Stavros S Niarchos; The Matthew, a full size replica of John Cabot’s ship which discovered Newfoundland over 500 years ago, and the Royal Navy mine hunter HMS Blyth.  All vessels will be open to public over the weekend.

 

Relive the golden age of steam and enjoy the unique experience of a footplate ride on the Great Western Pannier Tank locomotive number 9466. The Barry Rail Centre - Heritage Rail" will be operating ‘out and back’ shuttle trips from the Good Shed Site Station at the Barry Rail Centre from 10.00 am to 5.00pm each day. Fares: £5 for adults and £3 for children.

 

The festival will also include a variety of craft and food stalls, bar area, nautical themed street entertainers, face painting and a fairground.

 

Entrance to the festival and the live music area is free. Charges apply for ship tours, train rides, fairground and concessions.  Please note no alcohol or dogs allowed onto the live music stage site.
