Traffic issues at Trinity Street up for discussion
The Vale Council is to hold a public exhibition for local
residents and interested parties to give their opinions on a number
of proposed new traffic schemes for Trinity Street.
A number of different traffic schemes have been implemented in
the street over the years but residents remain seriously concerned
about issues such as damage to parked vehicles, inappropriate
speeding, reduced vision at side road junctions due to parked
vehicles and difficulties for pedestrians in crossing the road
safely.
In response to this, a site meeting involving Council senior
officers, local councillors and a number of concerned residents
recently took place at Trinity Street to consider the existing
issues.
As a result, a number of different options have been drawn up,
all of which will affect the through-traffic movements in Trinity
Street and the surrounding area in different ways, while addressing
raised issues.
Miles Punter, head of visible services said: “I was very
interested to hear and see at first hand the problems being
experienced by residents. Whilst I was on site I witnessed a number
of near misses and also the frustration experienced by motorists
trying to negotiate the various obstacles in the street. I very
much hope that we can work towards an acceptable solution to this
long standing problem.”
The public exhibition will be held on 19 June 2009 between 2pm and
4pm and 6pm and 8pm at the Church Hall of Trinity Presbyterian
Church, Trinity Street, Barry.
