Community enterprise centre's free courses - 20/12/06

Individuals from Vale of Glamorgan-based community projects have been rewarded for their successes on a wide range of training courses.

Organisations from across the area were represented at the Barry Community Enterprise Centre in Skomer Road, Barry, including Barry Beavers Swimming Club, Penarth Youth Information Project, Vale Housing Federation, Gwyn James Court (Penarth) Residents' Association, Scope, Maes Glas, All Saints' Church (Barry) Ramblers, Communities First and the Women's Institute.

The free courses in computer skills, first aid, food hygiene, health and safety and community skills are aimed at benefiting both individuals and their projects.

Presentiing certificates were Dave Prosser, Head of Lifelong Learning at the Vale of Glamorgan Council, and Barbara Walters, principal adult education officer.

A Community Enterprise spokesperson said: "Anyone volunteering to help run organisations like a parent-teacher association or residents' group can give us a call on (01446) 733034 to find out how we can help them."
