Dinas Powys community centre seeks volunteers - 15/12/06
Volunteers are needed to help with the running of a busy Dinas
Powys community centre.
Although the Murchfield Community Association has a minutes
secretary, the need to recruit a general secretary is high on their
agenda.
Anyone interested in offering their services in a voluntary role
- committee meetints are held every other month - will be welcome
at the association's annual general meeting on Monday, January 8,
at 7pm.
The meeting offers a chance for interested people to hear about
events of the past year and what is planned for the future.
A wide variety of weekly activities at the Sunnycroft Lane
centre include youth club, childminding group, adult education
classes, keep fit, dancing, Senior Citizens' club, badminton and
football.
The centre is also home to Dinas Powys Voluntary Concern who
provide a variety of services for the local community particularly
the elderly.
Urging local people to get involved with the centre, Vale of
Glamorgan Council community development officer Siân Vaughan said:
“The committee look forward to meeting some new faces so I would
urge anyone interested to go along on January 8, enjoy some
refreshments and make a new start.
"Don’t forget that there are other community centres in the Vale
who are equally as keen to meet interested volunteers.”
