Improved loos for Cowbridge - 04/12/06
A visit to the public toilets in Cowbridge is now a more
pleasant experience thanks to a major refurbishment carried out by
the Vale of Glamorgan Council.
The toilets behind the Town Hall have been completely revamped
and many of the improvements are the direct result of consultation
with users.
Smart new wall tiles and a new floor have been installed to make
the toilets easier to clean. They also have environmentally
friendly features including water saving automatic flushes, and
lights that only come on when the toilets are in use. Waterless
urinals are being trialled in the gents to reduce water usage, and
both toilets now have baby changing facilities.
Vale Council Cabinet Member for Visible Services, Cllr Geoff Cox
said: “We hope users of the facilities will appreciate the
improvements made by the Council. The provision of public toilets
is not a statutory responsibility of the Council but it recognises
that proper public toilet facilities are an asset to town centres
and tourist areas.”
Nicola Williams, the Council’s Waste Development Manager added:
“We have taken on board comments from our customers and in addition
to redecorating the toilets we have introduced mirrors, soap
dispensers and soft toilet paper. I hope our improvements are
appreciated especially with the extra Christmas shoppers now
visiting the area.”
Unfortunately, public toilets owned by the Council have been the
target of anti-social behaviour in the past including graffiti and
vandalism. Customers are asked to help the Council reduce these
problems by reporting any incidents to Visible Services on 029 2067
3000.
