Mayor's Christmas raffle boosts Inroads - 21/12/06
A charity is to benefit by around £800 thanks to the festive
fundraising efforts of Vale of Glamorgan Mayor Cllr Nic
Hodges.
With the support of staff, officers and members, Cllr Hodges
organised a Christmas charity raffle, the proceeds of which went to
Inroads Street Drugs project, who provide a free and confidential
service in Barry and Cardiff, offering information, advice, support
and counselling to people concerned with or affected by substance
misuse.
Cllr Hodges said: “I am delighted that, with the support of so
many people across the whole council, and friends, I was able to
raise such a marvellous amount which will benefit Inroads.
“My grateful thanks go to staff, councillors, friends and
colleagues, and businesses who offered their support through
donations and raffle prizes.”
Businesses which supported the raffle were: Penllyn Estates,
Waverley Excursions, Glendale Hotel, Penarth, Paul Gentile
Jewellers, Cibo Restaurant, Penarth, Huddarts, Cowbridge, Lafarge
Cement (Aberthaw), Photoden Limited, Barry, Dolphin Bookstore,
Barry, Dow Corning, Scafftag Ltd and and Centrica (Barry Power
Station).
