Icing on the cake for residential home cooks - 14/12/06
A third annual Christmas cake competition organised by Vale
Catering Services has again been voted an outstanding success.
The competition for welfare catering staff was held at at Trysor
O Le, Barry YMCA Hub, and involved cooks from across the Vale
working in residential homes and day centres.
The judges, Vale Mayor Cllr Nic Hodges and Head of Vale Catering
Rita Hicks, were impressed by the high standard, with the winners
being Robert Edwards (best decorated), of Bryneithin Residential
Home, Dinas Powys, and Berit Hijazi (best tasting), who works at Ty
Dewi Sant Residential Home, Penarth.
Rita Hicks commented: "The competition has been a fantastic
success with the number of entries increasing every year."
