New stage in Local Development Plan consultation process - 06/02/07

The Vale of Glamorgan Council is embarking on another stage in the preparation of a new Local Development Plan (LDP), which will govern how land within its area is used for housing, employment, retail, transportation and recreation, etc, between 2011 and 2026.

As part of the process, the Council is undertaking a special appraisal to ensure future LDP policies and proposals are consistent with the principles of sustainable development.

From Monday, February 12, through to Monday, March 19, the Council will be consulting on a Draft Scoping Report which, according to a Council spokesman, "outlines the initial stage of the sustainability process and establishes the sustainability context and the baseline situation for the Vale." He added: "The report also sets out the sustainability objectives, ie, a yardstick against which the LDP will be assessed throughout the later stages of its preparation."

The Draft Scoping Report can be viewed at the Council's main offices and libraries or downloaded from elsewhere on this website.

Anyone wishing to kept informed of progress on the LDP or requiring more information on any aspect of the process can contact the LDP team on (01446) 704600 or email LDP@valeofglamorgan.gov.uk
