Vale Council's delivery of school improvement schemes - 19/02/07

The Vale of Glamorgan Council's Scrutiny Committee (Lifelong Learning) has welcomed the completion of six major school development schemes in the latter part of 2006.

Five of the schemes, which were Lottery funded, were: Cadoxton Primary and Ysgol Pen y Garth (sports halls), Ysgol Iolo Morgannwg/Y Bontfaen and Pendoylan Church in Wales Primary (sports pitches),

The other primary school developments were at Llanfair (dining block) and Llancarfan (extension),

Other schemes set for completion in the early part of this year are Cadoxton (amalgamation works) and Llangan (classroom block).

Committee chairman Cllr Tony Hampton said: "The Council should be extremely proud of its record of delivering capital schemes in relation to schools and educational buildings.

"The authority is committed to providing the best quality accommodation and facilities for its pupils and staff, and these schemes complement the Schools' Investment Strategy which will make all school buildings fit for purpose as soon as is practicably possible."
