Team of surveyors start work in Barry - 27/02/07
The Vale of Glamorgan Council is set to undertake a survey into
the condition of older housing and commercial properties in the
central area of Barry.
The surveys, which are part of town centre
living study to assess proposals for the future regeneration of the
area, will concentrate on the Castleland ward stretching from
Holton Road in the north to Dock View Road in the south.
The project is being carried out by ConsultCIH
Ltd and is due to start on March 12.
The team of surveyors will carry out external
surveys to blocks of properties, and owners of one in 10 properties
will be asked to agree to an internal inspection. Residents
selected for an internal inspection will be contacted by letter
prior to a survey.
Project officer Rob Lucas said: "The internal
survey, which will take about 45 minutes, will be by surveyors
carrying appropriate identification. They will look at all parts of
the property and nothing will be disturbed in any way.
"All information collected will be kept
strictly confidential and will only be used for the purpose of the
survey.
"The surveys are vitally important as they
will help the Council make an accurate assessment of housing and
building conditions in the area and form part of a town centre
living study to assess proposals for the future regeneration of the
area."
