Improving swimming opportunities in the Vale - 01/02/07
The Vale of Glamorgan Council Cabinet has agreed to spend just
over £23,000 on improving swimming opportunities in the area and
promoting the sport.
The Welsh Assembly Government, which has provided free swimming
for youngsters during school holidays and for over-60s during
school term times, has extended the scheme to fund further
pool-based initiatives.
The money coming to the Vale will be spent on improvements to
the small pool ceiling at Barry Leisure Centre and for equipment
and training to increase an interest in the activity.
Cabinet Member for Tourism and Leisure Cllr Gwyn John said:
"This will help improve swimming opportunities across the
Vale."
