Half term football fun days across the Vale - 16/01/07

Four more popular fun days are being organised by the Vale of Glamorgan Council's football development team during the February half term school holidays.

Suitable for girls and boys aged six to 11, the soccer events will be held at the Vale leisure centres (10am-3pm) at Llantwit Major (Tuesday, February 20), Barry (February 21), Penarth (February 22) and Cowbridge (February 23).

All the events are run by highly qualified UEFA coaches, with the football development team aiming to offer enjoyable and varied sessions to improve skills in a friendly team ambience.

Vale assistant football development officer Nathan Nurton is encouraging potential participants to sign up as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. "Children of all levels are welcome to attend," he said. "Our coaches aim to improve individual ability, educate and offer a fun environment."

Cabinet Member for Tourism and Leisure Cllr Gwyn John said: “The fun days are well attended and usually attract more than 150 young people over a typical half term week. The sessions are designed to be fun for participants and, of course, will burn off some of their additional energy.”

All participants, who should bring a packed lunch and wear suitable indoor footwear, receive a certificate and special small prize.

The price per session is £13.50 or £12 for FreeStyle members. Football development also offer sibling discount of £21.60 for both family members.
