NVQ awards for Social Services personnel - 26/01/07
The importance the Vale of Glamorgan Council attaches to having
appropriately trained and qualified staff within Social Services
has been highlighted at two special award ceremonies.
Presenting vouchers to staff to recognise their successful
attainment of NVQ awards were Vale Mayor Cllr Nic Hodges, who
hosted the events, and Cllr Stuart Egan, Cabinet Member with
responsibility for Social and Care Services.
Staff working in social care need to hold relevant
qualifications as part of a Care Council for Wales strategy
ensuring that vulnerable people receive a consistently high
standard of service.
To support this, the Care Council sets targets aimed at
increasing the number of qualified staff working in social care,
and the Council already meets those targets.
