Barry Library gears up for historic move - 14/11/06
The Barry Library at the town's leisure centre closes its doors
on Friday, November 17, as final preparations get underway for the
opening of the new state of the art complex at the multi-million
pound Barry Town Hall development.
In conjunction with the major fit out of the new two level
County Library complex, stock, furniture and equipment has to be
moved in preparation for the opening on Thursday, January 4.
Chief Librarian Sian Jones said: “We apologise for the
inconvenience this may cause our customers but we are sure they are
excited as us about a library development which will be the envy of
towns across Wales.
“We look forward to welcoming back our existing customers to the
new library in January, as well as greeting many people who will be
visiting us for the first time.”
Arrangements have been made for people to borrow additional
books and items if they wish to make sure they have enough reading
material for the closure period. These will be due for return after
the new library opens and will not be subject to any overdue
charges for the closure period.
Telephone enquiries can be directed to any of the other
libraries in the Vale, and Barry Library users are welcome to use
any other Vale complex or, indeed, the mobile library service which
now visits more than 110 locations.
