Face2Face with local authors - 15/11/06
Vale of Glamorgan Libraries has continued its "Meet the Author"
series of events by hosting a visit from Cardiff-based writer Lynne
Barrett-Lee.
During her visit to Cowbridge, Lynne gave a fascinating talk
about how she became a writer, how she writes and the vagaries of
the publishing world, and read from her latest novel, "Barefoot in
the Park."
Following a lively question and answer session, visitors were
able to purchase signed copies of Lynne's latest (her sixth)
novel.
The "Face2Face" events, which are being organised with generous
support from academi, were launched with a visit by Stephanie
Calman to Barry, and continue at Penarth Library on Wednesday,
November 29, at 7.30pm, when the guest is Catrin Collier whose new
novel, ‘Tiger Ragtime,’ is the second in a series set in Cardiff’s
docklands in the 1930s. Tickets at £2 are available from the
library on 029 2070 8438.
In January, Penarth Library will also host a visit by Sheenagh
Pugh, one of Wales’ foremost poets and winner of numerous
prizes.
Future events involving Trisha Ashley, Shirley Billing, Lionel
Fanthorpe and a quartet of crime writers will be held in Dinas
Powys, Llantwit Major and the new County Library in King Square,
Barry.
