Community college hosts "Made in Wales' courses - 14/11/06

 

As part of its activities in the run up to Christmas, Cowbridge Community College is hosting a series of "Made in Wales" courses on Saturday, December 9.

 

All the courses have been organized through the Vale of Glamorgan Council (Lifelong Learning) and will be held at the college at the Old Hall, High Street. They are all linked in some way to Welsh culture, themes or products, and to produce gifts for Christmas.

 

Free tea/coffee and Welsh cakes are provided.

 

The courses are as follows:

 

• Card making - greetings in Welsh, and use of Welsh flag colours (9.30am-12 noon and 1-3.30pm; £10 a session plus materials);

 

• Digital photography - use of pictures connected to Wales and its culture (10am-3pm; £18);

 

• Table decoration (10am-12noon; £11 plus materials);

 

• Welcome wreath - use of green/red and white (12.30am-3.30pm; £19 plus materials);

 

• Portraiture - using techniques by Henry Moore in his study of mines and miners (10am-3pm; £18);

 

• Microsoft Publisher - making a calendar and Christmas cards using dragons, daffodils, etc (10am-3pm; £18);

 

• Music in Wales - informal but wide-ranging session listening and discussing Welsh composers and artistes (10am-12noon; £8);

 

• Pottery - make a dragon, daffodil, etc, as a Christmas present (10am-3pm; £18);

 

• Patchwork - learn the basics using traditional Welsh colours of red and black (10am-3pm; £18);

 

• Welsh - fun session introducing the language (2-4pm; £3)

 

• wood carving love spoons and knotts (10am-3pm; £18).
