Generating roundabout sponsorship - 09/11/06
Working in partnership with local businesses, the Vale of
Glamorgan Council has embarked on a successful project involving
the sponsorship of roundabouts.
Through the initiative, which is a joint project between the
Council and specialist marketing company Immediate Solutions, local
businesses and companies have an opportunity to identify themselves
with a particular roundabout whilst providing additional resources
to improve the local environment.
Aberthaw Power Station is the most recent local business to
sponsor a roundabout on the Llantwit Major by-pass.
RWE npower thought it was an excellent idea to help raise
awareness of their coal fired power station and support an
initiative that helps the maintenance and appearance of the Vale.
Spokesman Clive Smith said: ”We are delighted to sponsor the
roundabout. It is important to keep our area looking good.
"Aberthaw Power Station is proud to be based within the Vale,
and the roundabout initiative helps put businesses on the map and
enhances the look of our local surroundings.”
Cllr Geoff Cox, Vale Cabinet Member for Visible Services, said
he was pleased the project was underway, adding: "It gives
companies an excellent opportunity to raise their profile."
Keith Jones, Operational Manager (Highway Maintenance), said he
was delighted with the way the scheme was progressing. "There has
been a very positive interest to date, and this project provides
companies trading in the Vale with the opportunity to make an
impact and improve the environment."
Phil Beaman, Operational Manager (Parks & Grounds
Maintenance), with responsibility for the landscaping of the
roundabouts, said that the project had been well received by local
businesses.
