Nominate your favourite Vale Sports Personality of 2006 -

Do you know a talented sportsperson from your local community
who has shone this year? Perhaps there’s a coach who has made an
outstanding contribution? Or, maybe you know an unsung volunteer
who really should be recognised? Well, now is your chance to make
your nominations for the Vale of Glamorgan Sports Personality of
the Year Awards 2006.
The awards, organised by the Vale of Glamorgan District Sports
Council in association with the Vale of Glamorgan Council, will be
held on Friday 23rd March 2007 at the Memorial Hall in Barry. The
judging panel invites your nominations now, and has set a deadline
of Friday 15th December.
There are ten categories that the panel will select both a
winner and two runners-up from. These are Junior female, Junior
male, Team of the year, Coach of the year, Senior female, Senior
male, Volunteer of the year, Dragon Sport Volunteer of the year,
School of the year and Disabled Sportsperson of the year.
District Sports Council Chairman, Mrs Angela Price, explained:
“Our awards offer an opportunity to acknowledge and reward the hard
work of individuals, teams, coaches and volunteers who contribute
to the local sporting community. There are a large number of very
dedicated individuals involved in sporting activities - it is
essential that their hard work and commitment is acknowledged”.
Karen Davies, Sports, Arts and Play Development Manager at the
Vale of Glamorgan Council added: “We welcome nominations that
identify sports people who either live within the Vale of Glamorgan
or represent a Vale based School or Club. We are also keen to
receive nominations that represent a wide range of sports.”
