Campaign to help young people make a 'safe start' in employment
- 23/10/06
To mark 'European Week for Safety and Health at Work' (23-27
Oct), the Vale of Glamorgan Council's Environmental Health
department has set up a 'Safe Start' exhibition to raise awareness
of health and safety for young workers.
Based in the reception of the Vale Council's Civic Offices in
Holton Road, Barry, the exhibition offers useful advice and
information about the 'Safe Start' campaign.
Recent evidence indicates that the rate of non-fatal accidents
at work is at least 50% higher among those aged 18 to 24 years than
in any other age category.
As part of a wider European initiative, organised by The Health
and Safety Executive in the UK, 'Safe Start' urges employers and
supervisors to make their workplaces safer and healthier,
especially for young workers and those about to enter the world of
work.
