Active for Life offers new exercise class and crèche facility -
18/10/06
A new initiative offering an exercise class and crèche facility
Is being launched at Barry's Holm View Leisure Centre.
The Vale of Glamorgan Council's Active for Life team (financed
by the Big Lottery Fund), which aims to reduce the risk of heart
disease, and Sure Start are working in partnership to combat one of
the barriers – the lack of childcare – preventing some people from
becoming more active.
Individuals will now be able to exercise safe in the knowledge
that their child is being cared for by qualified personnel in the
same building
Available to mums, dads or guardians, the Class and Crèche is
really affordable - one session costs just £1 – allowing one person
to participate in the class and one child to be supervised at the
crèche. For every subsequent crèche place booked, there is an
additional cost of £1 per child.
Active for Life co-ordinator Emma Cresswell explained: “We hope
that more Vale residents will participate in physical activity as
our ground-breaking exercise class offers reasonably priced
childcare allowing participants to work out knowing their child is
also having fun.”
The classes start on Thursday, 9th November, at Holm View from
11am to 12 noon.
