Highlighting importance of food hygiene - 16/10/06
The importance the Vale of Glamorgan Council attaches to good
food hygiene practice in the catering industry has been highlighted
at a special awards ceremony.
The Welsh Food Hygiene Awards scheme is the subject of
unannounced visits by Council environmental health officers and
recognises food premises which "attain and maintain high standards
of food hygiene and cleanliness, and raises general awareness of
the importance of hygienic practice in business."
The successful businesses must also have addressed the
requirements to carry our hazard analysis and the training of food
handlers.
Cabinet Member for Legal and Public Protection Cllr Hunter
Jarvie said: "The certificates demonstrate the commitment of all
these premises in providing safe food, and can only enhance their
reputation with customers and the people they serve.
"I congratulate all these premises and, indeed, all those who
are maintaining high standards for their continued efforts."
