Resurfacing programme for Vale roads - 26/10/06
Highway resurfacing works totalling £350,000 will be undertaken
by the Vale of Glamorgan Council over the coming months.
The Council Cabinet has agreed the programme, which will be
designed and managed by the authority's Highways Maintenance
Division and undertaken by contractors.
Council Leader Cllr Jeffrey James said: "I am delighted we are
able to continue with our programme of improving road surfaces in
the Vale. As well as providing a smoother ride for motorists, the
works will also result in a reduction in traffic generated noise
especially in more residential areas."
The routes identified for resurfacing are:
B42645 Llantwit Major by-pass (Boverton and Llanmaes traffic
lights); Llanmaes Road, Llanmaes (traffic lights to Pensarn
Farmhouse); B4524 Corntown Road (A48 to Golden Mile public house);
Dock View Road, Barry (Castleland Street to Robert Street); Friars
Road, Barry Island (Plymouth Road to Earl Crescent); Amherst
Crescent, Barry Island (rear of 10-33); Barry Road, Barry (junction
of Dyfan Road at traffic lights), St Bride's Way, Barry (junction
with Dyfan Road); Sully Road, Sully (Hall Farm to bends at Downs
Farm); B4265 Wick village; Trem-y-Don, Barry (Min-y-Mor to outside
No 26); Llanmihangel to Sigginston road; Colcot Road, Barry (Barry
College to Barry Hospital), and Morel Street, Barry (Court Road to
No 96).
