You're never too young to enjoy books - 20/10/06
Libraries in the Vale of Glamorgan hosted a series of special
events to celebrate National Bookstart Day.
The Bookstart scheme, sponsored by Sainsbury’s, provides young
children with free books and encourages them to join their local
library.
Teddy Bear Picnics and Clap Tap Rhyming session were held for
parents, babies and toddlers at the Barry, Penarth, Llantwit Major,
Dinas Powys and Cowbridge libraries.
The Barry session was led by outreach worker Maggie Sanders and
children's librarian Gillian Southby and, at Penarth, by senior
library assistant Julie Dutton.
Balloons, chocolate teddies, juice, stories and exuberant
singing were all part of the fun, with the emphasis being on "
You're never too young to enjoy books!"
Clap Tap Rhyme sessions are held in most libraries in the Vale;
ring your local library for details.
