Young readers on a special mission - 16/10/06
As part of their summer activities, Vale of Glamorgan libraries
hosted a special reading scheme when "secret agents" up to 12 years
of age were invited to win their licence to read.
Children joining the Reading Mission, a national reading scheme
run in conjunction with The Reading Agency, were challenged to read
six library books in six weeks. Each time two books were returned,
the youngsters received a set of stickers and, completing the
mission, brought the reward of a medal and certificate.
A fun awards ceremony at Barry Library was attended by
children's entertainer Francis Maxey, while librarian Gillian
Southby and Cllr Tony Hampton, Vale Cabinet Member for Education
and Training, presented certificates.
