Vale Council's £135,600 for local organisations - 28/09/06
A total of 150 organisations and groups across the area have
benefited from Vale of Glamorgan Council cash grants totalling
£135,600.
Agreed by the Council’s Cabinet under the authority's annual
Community Grants Awards scheme, the money was distributed to a
range of organisations including charities, sports and lifesaving
clubs, arts and theatre groups, community organisations and youth
facilities.
The awards are offered every year, with voluntary bodies across
the county being invited to apply.
Presenting awards to around 80 recipients at a ceremony at
Dyffryn were Council Leader Cllr Jeffrey James and Cabinet
colleagues Tony Williams, Anthony Ernest, Goeff Cox, Tony Hampton,
Hunter Jarvie, Clive Williams, John Thomas and Gordon Kemp.
Cllr James said the Dyffryn Gardens event was a thank you to
voluntary organisations, who contribute a great deal to the
community in the Vale, and offer help, advice, information,
entertainment and enjoyment to large numbers of residents.
David Williams, of the Vale of Glamorgan Festival, thanked the
authority for their ongoing support for so many parts of the
community.
