New pavilion for Cowbridge bowls club - 26/09/06
A new £200,000 pavilion for one of the area's most popular
bowling clubs has been officially opened by Vale of Glamorgan
Council Leader Cllr Jeffrey James.
Completed last year, the pavilion is now home to around 100
members of the Cowbridge Bowling Club.
Praising the club for offering "excellent opportunities" to
promote more active lifestyles and for their professional
assistance in delivering the project, Cllr James said: "Bowls has
to be one of the best sports for all sections of the community
ranging from schoolchildren to more senior members. This
development has provided the club with an excellent base from which
to increase its membership and the ability to control its own
destiny."
Thanking the three Cowbridge ward members – Cllrs Catherine
Clay, Hunter Jarvie and Geoff Cox – for their assistance, Cllr
James added: "The Council is always appreciative of the input of
local communities through its representatives, and I am proud of
the way Cowbridge residents, along with the Council, continue to
help in the development of the town's parks and open spaces."
