New equipment for Rhoose play area - 15/09/06
New equipment is being provided by the Vale of Glamorgan
Council at a popular play area in Rhoose.
Work at the Celtic Way facility, which follows the removal of
old items, is scheduled to be completed by mid-October.
The new items, which are being supplied by the same company
which provided the equipment for the recently refurbished play area
at Millfield Drive, Cowbridge, will be a multi-unit, roundabout,
spring, seesaw and swings. There will be an artificial grass safety
surface.
Operational Manager (Parks and Grounds Maintenance) Phil Beaman
said: "In order to stop unauthorised vehicles entering the site
and, therefore, increasing the safety of children and adults, the
Council will also be installing a boundary knee rail between the
car park and the grass. This will prevent vehicles being driven on
to the play area."
Local Rhoose ward member Cllr Jeffrey James, who is also the
Council Leader, commented: "This refurbishment continues the
Council's commitment to providing quality parks facilities for
communities across the Vale.
"It is something that I and my Rhoose ward colleague, Cllr
Gordon Kemp, have been pressing for and we are delighted that it is
being improved."
