Start Up Grants
The Vale of Glamorgan Council provides a Start Up Grant up to a
maximum of £1,000. Businesses qualifying for a start up grant will
include any person or persons proposing to trade outside the Vale
of Glamorgan but based within the County.
However, we don't provide Start Up grants to professional
services, the retail trade (including car sales) or local services
such as motor repair and garages, although specialist services
serving a wider area may be considered. Also, projects likely to
displace jobs elsewhere in the County will not be considered - a
net gain in jobs for the area as a whole must be proved.
Qualifying Criteria
- Businesses must prove their viability and demonstrate genuine
job creation as a direct result of the assistance.
- Grant will be subject to a maximum of £1000 or 50% of eligible
and proven expenditure, whichever is the lower.
- Applicants will be required to demonstrate match funding from
other sources such as commercial funds, or from within the
business.
Subject to the above criteria, grants/loans will be offered
towards:
- Start up costs including purchase of plant and machinery,
improvement of premises or the cost of new premises and marketing
costs.
- First year rent and/or rates for new businesses (as part
of a package of investment).
NB. Working capital will not qualify for
assistance.
