Private Hire Operators

 

Anyone who wishes to run a business operating Private Hire vehicles must first apply for, and be granted, a Private Hire Operator's licence.

 

Before applying for a licence you should:

• Contact the Licensing Section to meet with a Licensing Officer to discuss the process and Private Hire Operator Conditions attached that apply to the Licence.
• Contact the Council's Planning Department to check whether you will need to obtain planning permission for the business.

To make application you will need to submit:

• Private Hire Operator Application Form
• Fee
• Disclosure and Barring Service check (the check will need to be carried out on a 3-yearly basis).
• Any evidence of approval from Planning where relevant

Once an application has been made you will be issued with Vale of Glamorgan Council Driver and Vehicle record books.
