Welfare of Livestock
The Welsh Government has published amended versions of the Code
of Practice for the Welfare of Livestock: Sheep and Cattle.
The revisions reflect changes to items of legislation relating
to the welfare of cattle and sheep on farm, during transport, at
slaughter and recommendations made by the Farm Animal Welfare
Council in relation to castration and tail docking of lambs.
The revised Codes of Practice provide up-to-date accurate advice
that should be applied to husbandry, farming and management
practices in line with the provisions of the Animal Welfare Act and
compliant with current EU and domestic welfare requirements.

codes of practice are available on the Welsh Assembly
website.
