Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA)
The Education Maintenance Allowance provides financial support
for 16-19 year olds who are continuing with their education at
schools or further education institutions. It is means tested and
to be eligible you will need to be:-
· Aged 16 between 1 September 2011 – 31 August 2012
· Living in the UK
· In full time study
· Studying eligible course
Money = £10/£20/£30 weekly depending on circumstances. Paid
fortnightly into bank.
To qualify:
- Household income must be less than £20,817, or less if you are
the only child in the household
- Household income must be £23,077 or less if there are any
additional young people in the household who are studying full time
and eligible for child benefit
