What happens after the assessment?

The LEA may issue a Note in Lieu or a Statement of Special Educational Needs.

A Note in Lieu (NIL)

A note in lieu is not a legal document, but will share information received from the multi-disciplinary assessment with parents and professionals. The NIL will recommend strategies for meeting your child’s needs.

A Statement of Special Educational Needs (Statement)

A Statement is a legal document. It describes all of your child’s needs and all the additional help that they need.
