Speech & Language Therapy Team:
The Aims of the Service
- To support children with severe specific language and/or severe
speech impairment at their local primary school.
- To provide high quality training to schools on speech, language
and communication needs.
- fulfil its statutory duties under the Education Act 1996.
Accessing Service
The Service is accessed by an open referral system.
Community Speech & Language Therapy Service
Referrals are transferred following involvement at Community
Clinic of the Area Health Authority.
Schools
Following discussions with the parents and intervention by an
Educational Psychologist, the school will refer to the Speech &
Language Therapy Service Manager who is based at Llandough
Hospital.
Parents/Other Professionals Agencies
Can refer directly to the Speech & Language Therapy Service
Manager at Llandough Hospital, which may require further
collaboration between all parties i.e. Service/ Parent/
Headteacher/SENCO.
