Language and Play (LAP)

Language and Play is a six week programme for parents, carers and children from birth to three. It focuses upon exploring ways of playing, listening and talking with young children through everyday experiences.

Being a parent is the most important job in your life and often the most challenging. We believe you are your child’s first and most important teacher and we want to share some ideas with you.

If you want to give your child a great start, try cuddles, talk, rhymes, sharing a story each day and playing together. It’s great fun and it’s absolutely free!

There are six practical workshops for parents/carers and their young children to enjoy:

  • The importance of talking to children
  • Talking and playing in everyday routines
  • Talking and playing when out and about
  • Sharing books and stories
  • Singing songs and rhymes
  • Early writing

If you would like more information about the programme or are interested in training to deliver the sessions, please contact the LAP team:
