When your child can start
nursery
Children are eligible for a part time
nursery place, usually five mornings or five afternoons, from the
term after their third birthday.

Admissions to English medium community
Nursery Schools and Units are managed by the LEA. Parents should
approach their preferred nursery in the first instance, who will
forward details to the LEA. The School Admissions section will then
send an application pack to parents at the appropriate time, which
includes an application form to be completed and
returned. Parents who would like an application pack for
nursery education for September 2009 to July 2010 should now
contact the admissions section
In the event of over-subscription,
places are allocated in accordance with the Councils' admission
criteria. Priority is given to catchment children, followed by
those with a sibling, then those living nearest the school.
Where a nursery is over-subscribed from the catchment area alone,
priority will be given to older children living nearest the school.

When applications are
considered, no account is taken of which infant or primary school
the child is likely to attend subsequently, or how long the child's
name has been on a waiting list.
At present, the Welsh Medium Primary
and Church-aided schools will continue to deal with their own
admissions to nursery, however please be advised that you will
receive application packs when your child is approaching full time
education to allow you to apply for your child's reception
place.
We will take your child's details from
the age of 2 years and add them to our central database, in order
for them to be included in the distribution of application
packs. Please still contact the school of your choice and
also leave your child's details with them. For your catchment
