'Guidance for Governors' Series

The Governor Support Unit (GSU) has produced a number of publications as part of its ‘Guidance for Governors’ series, created to provide governors with up to date and accurate information with which to fulfil their roles effectively. The ‘Guidance for Governors’ series includes:

• A Handbook for Governors
  The guidance is an easy to use reference with basic school governance advice and information.
• Governing Body Committees
  The guidance introduces a framework of best practice in relation to the establishment and maintenance of governing body committees.
• Headteacher & Deputy Headteacher Appointments
  The guidance advises those governors making senior appointments.  This is currently being updated.
• Dealing with Complaints
  The guidance aims to help governing bodies through the process of dealing with complaints.
• Developing School Policies
  The guidance aims to help governing bodies with the key elements of the policy making process for which they are responsible.  This is currently being updated.

Each publication in the ‘Guidance for Governors’ series will be updated when necessary following legislative changes to ensure the content remains accurate.
